الأمصار ذوات الآثار

تناول الحافظ الذهبي في رسالته القيمة النادرة هذه، ذكر المدن الكبيرة والأمصار، والأقاليم التي كان يوجد فيها علم الحديث والأثر. فقد أورد اسم تسع وعشرين مدينة وإقليماً، ذاكراً تحت كل واحدة منها بعض مشاهير أئمتها، وأعلام حفاظها، وأعيان محدثيها، وقد عني الحافظ الذهبي في معظم هذه البلدان بذكر أزمنة ابتداء العلم، وذيوعه وشيوع، ونقصه وعُدْمه منها، وكان يشير في كثير من الأحيان إلى سبب ضعف العلم وعدمه. متعرضاً في مكانين فقط لذكر بعض التواريخ الرجالية المختصة بهَمَزان، وخوارزم، كما ضمن كلامه بعض الفوائد التاريخية والجغرافية لزمن بناء، وفتح المدن، ومدة استيلاء الكفار عليها، . A rare book from the collection of Imam al-Zahabi (748 AH) rahimahullah with regards to to the cities that had ishtighaal with knowledge. The Muhaqqiq writes a long dirasah at the beginning (120 pages) about the Ilmī growth throughout Islamic history and the times and places where knowledge decreased. Along with that, the Muhaqqiq does a good job in mentioning the books on the Ulama of each city that Imma al-Zahabi mentions. For example, for Madinah Munawwarah, al-Hafiz al-Khazraji (765) AH has"al-I'laam Fi Man Dakhala al-Madinah Min Al A'laam" and then the Muhaqqiq mentions four other books written about the biographies of the Ulama and people of Madinah Munawwarah.
